There have been many articles in the press about the damage that the pandemic has inflicted on children. However, when the leading global medical journal, The Lancet, publishes it´s findings we should all take notice. The report confirms that “Digital screens…have kept lives and livelihoods alive, connected and active through the pandemic” and are a “great enabler”. Specifically the report suggests using the technology for “population-wide roll outs of easy, low-cost evidence-based positive psychology interventions, which could be delivered digitally” and should include “mindfulness, gratitude, practicing kindness or generosity, and self-compassion or imagining one’s best possible self”. The good thing about the format is that it is easy to access and administer as well as being effective. So the high utilisation of digital devices should be used to harness wellbeing and promote positive mental health.
