It is fair to conclude that without technology the last six months´ worth of school would have been very difficult, if not impossible. Some schools that had already started to use online tools, like Microsoft Teams and Google Classroom, were ready for the moment which for others with no experience, started as a major panic. James Blake, Head of ICT at Ballard School in Hampshire, commented that the mix of those with and without suitable devices at home “has enforced a re-think of teaching and how we interact with our pupils, and also meant that pupils need to become more self-sufficient and improve independent working”. With the evidence of the digital divide, mentioned here in many posts before, schools need to ensure that technology used in education is built into their curriculum, as while extremely useful in this pandemic it also has many uses in the workplace.
