As the world changes around us advances are being made, but not in all areas of life, inevitably affecting some, but not others. Like in many situations, education is often proposed as an agent of change. This report by the OECD reflects on the premise that “responsible policy-making pulls future developments into the present to learn and prepare”, instead of pushing decisions off and delaying them further into the future. With the goal in mind to help design and support long-term strategic thinking in education, the publication provides a broad overview of key economic, social, demographic and technological trends, raising multiple questions about these as well as climate change, and their impact on education.
